The Funky Monkeys @ De Gevleugelde Stad Ieper 2023 (City of Wings Ypres 2023)

From April 7th to 9th, 2023, we participated in the largest street art promotion festival in Europe in Ieper, Belgium, with our street show "Groove" and delighted the audience. A total of 62 international companies and over 150 international bookers attended the festival.

We arrived on Friday after a 10-hour drive to perform three shows on Saturday (2:30 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:45 pm) and two more shows on Sunday. Although the weather was not always ideal with temperatures sometimes only reaching 13°C and cloudy, windy skies, the audience sometimes took their seats up to 30 minutes before the show started to not miss out on the spectacle!

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to our audience! We were impressed by your commitment and enthusiasm. It was a special experience to perform in front of such an enthusiastic audience.

We were particularly pleased to receive a lot of positive feedback as "underdogs" compared to other established companies that have been around for decades. Both the audience and artists and bookers with decades of experience showed great appreciation for our show.

For us, the festival in Ieper was a special opportunity to present our performance outside of the German-speaking region. We are proud that we were so successful as a "German" company at this international festival.

The festival was an important step for us as a company, but also for street art, contemporary circus & urban dance and theater in public space scene in Germany as a whole. We are excited about the positive feedback we received at the festival and look forward to more performances and future developments!
